The company was established in Hexham, Northumberland in 2002 by Tim Elliott FRICS. It quickly grew to include a geo-environmental scientist and a CAD and GIS technician and as the work load increased, further experienced technical, scientific and surveying staff have joined to provide an excellent professional service for a growing number of clients.

We now carry out project work all over the north of England and Scotland , with clients ranging from developers and individual property owners to national mineral and energy companies.

Key Staff

TimDirector and Principal Consultant, Tim Elliott, has over 30 years experience as a Chartered Surveyor working in the environment. He is also a Board member of RICS International Environment and Resources Profesional Group and a Chartered Environmentalist with the Society for the Environment.

He specialises in environmental risk assessment and land management, and site appraisal for development projects. Tim has provided extensive site risk assessment, land restoration and aftercare consultancy and management for developers, land owners, mineral companies and DEFRA, including the preparation of Land Quality Statements and Land Condition Records.

Most projects are multi-disciplinary projects involving close liaison with clients, land managers, engineers, scientists, statutory bodies, and other stakeholders.

He has appeared as expert witness at several planning inquiries for major mineral, agricultural, and road developments, for private and public clients.

He is involved in developing and maintaining RICS professional guidance on Environmental Assessment, Contaminated Land and Asbestos Management,  and is principal author of RICS Guidance on 2009 Environmental Damage Regulations. He is a Professional Competence Assessor for prospective members of the Environment specialism of the RICS.

He has also presented papers on topical environmental practice matters, sustainability, contamination, IPPC, restoration and aftercare techniques at Utility, RICS, Forest Authority and other national and regional seminars.

Tim is supported by a team of specialist multi-disciplinary consultants with a wide range of combined skills including geo-environmental expertise, environmental impact assessment, land restoration knowledge and GIS/cartography.

Ruth Hopgood MSc MISoilSci – Senior Geo-Environmental Engineer

Ruth trained as a soil scientist, and has a masters in contaminated land assessment. She has over 20 years experience in the sector, from pesticide research and laboratory experience to geo-environmental engineer and site chemist for environmental and geotechnical consultancies. She co-ordinates EES brownfield operations.

Charlie Cooper – Technical Surveyor

Charlie has 25 years experience in surveying both buildings and sites, together with the supervision of large scale mineral sites. He has considerable experience with both site investigation of contaminated land and remediation work. He co-ordinates EES site operations, and holds Mining Qualifications Board Surveyors Certificate, RSPoH Level 3 asbestos inspection and NEEBOSH safety certification, Environmental Permitting Operator’s Certificate (CIWM)  (2009),CITB Construction Skills Health and Safety: Supervisors category, (2008) . He also manages health and safety aspects of all our work.

Neil Douglas MSc AIEMA - Environmental Surveyor

Neil has a human sciences background with an MSc from Newcastle University in Environmental Consultancy and wide experience in a variety of businesses, as well as recent  and diverse experience in environmental assessment.

Mac McCarron - Dip Environmental Land Management - Project Technician

Mac had 40 years experience at ADAS before joining the company in 2003, which included over 20 years involved in the large scale land assessment and restoration of mineral and waste sites. He is also a skilled draughtsman and is EES senior cartographer. He also holds BOHS asbestos P402 certification and is involved in inspections and assisting in the preparation of asbestos management plans.

Helen Elliott – Business & Quality Manager

Helen provides the business with the essential managerial and secretarial functions; from client and supplier liaison, financial management, maintaining the ISO9001 : 2000 system , to marketing and project administration.
